Sovereignty and Grace (Pt. 7)

“I am alpha and omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty." (Revelation 1:8)

God is eternal, and inhabits eternity, time is something He invented. Thus for God, everything is the now. So, when we think about His sovereignty and His foreknowledge, we must think it means God gazing into a crystal ball or looking into the future for God Who exists in the past and the future simultaneously. God is!!! This why God "Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things not yet done, saying My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure." (Isaiah 46:10)

God is omniscient. He knows everything, all things, all truths, all facts, all events, all concepts and all things that have, are, or will happen, anywhere, anytime, always! When we meditate on such truth for a minute, it makes our heads spin yet, this is true about our God. Thus, to me, this makes all the arguments and debates about how His sovereignty and our free will can coordinate, seem so useless! I can only stand in awe at the incomprehensible majesty and power of God Almighty! From God's perspective, " that which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been."  Eccl. 3:15)

Now if that's the case, some might ask; “do we have any choice or will at all?” The answer is a resounding yes!!! The fact that God knows, does not take away the fact that we live in time, and walk out our walk before Him, endowed by Him with the power of will and choice. Thus we can never rest on our laurels, or just sit back and say; “Que, Sera, Sera”, whatever will be, will be. No! We are responsible; we are always accountable before our God. Search the scriptures, and make choices accordingly. This too is part of God's sovereignty and grace.
